After leaving his home, Drizzt wandered the countryside in despair until he encountered [[Montolio Debrouchee|Montolio Debrouchee]], a blind ranger that took him in. Drizzt spent a good portion of a year with his new found friend training in the ways of a ranger. Mooshie, as Montolio was known to his friends, died in his sleep and was buried by Drizzt in the spring.<ref name=hoh>{{cite book | title=FR7: Hall of Heroes | author = Multiple Authors | publisher = Wizard of the Coast | year = 1989}}</</ref> His final act was to take his longbow so it could continue to be used in the battle against evil.
