On [[Template:Maplink#Usage]], the example that starts "'''Overlays can also be displayed on top of the map:'''" is missing 2 left-curly-braces (<code><nowiki>}}</nowiki></code>) at the end of the line.
It has 2, but I think it needs 4, like: <code><nowiki>minimap=false}}}}</nowiki></code>
That way, it will produce this:
