What matters is that this topic had signficant coverage on national TV and was the subject of much debate, which means it's notable regardless of how imporant the files themselves actually are. The debate of whether the files are imporant or underwhelming is something the article can discuss (citing reliable sources as necessary). If something not politically charged got this much attention for sure there would be an article about it and it wouldn't have been nominated for deletion.
