Alimanya or aalimanya gotra decendants are typically from bengal province of British India, now spread over areas of west bengal, bihar, Jharkhand among others. Their ancestral decendecy are involved in agriculture, fishery, business, washerman, trading etc.
Though there's no evidence when it came to be used as gotra name, there are lakhs of people having this gotra in whole west bengal, kishanganj-purnea-katihar districts of bihar and Jharkhand.
I belong to this gotra and I have made surveys, met people who belong to alimaanya gotra. It is believed it arrived from people belonging to kshatriya, viashya and shudras, when they shifted their profession and had matrimonial alliance.
