AMOS competed with Acid Software's Blitz BASIC. It enabled easy creation of multimedia software, video games, and educational programs. Despite its speed, AMOS suffered from incompatibility with the Amiga's operating system functions. After the original AMOS, Europress released Easy AMOS for beginners and AMOS Professional with added features, but neither gained significant popularity. The language's popularity declined along with the Amiga computer, but a small community of enthusiasts still exists. In 2019, Lionet released AMOS2 (now called AOZ Studio), which uses JavaScript as its code interpreter.
