*If the venue is not known, listing only the city—or at a bare minimum, country—is acceptable.

*If a venue's name has since changed, use the name by which it was known at the time of the fight. There is usually no need to pipe link the current name, as Wikipedia's own [[WP:REDIRECT|redirect]] will usually handle it, or one can be manually created.

*In general, if the article for a venue contains the city or state name in the title, use a pipe link to avoid redundancy: {{xt|<nowiki>[[Echo Arena Liverpool|Echo Arena]]</nowiki>, Liverpool, England}} or {{xt|<nowiki>[[Connecticut Convention Center|Convention Center]]</nowiki>, Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.}}. The usage of sponsored names must still conform with [[WP:Commonname]], and must not necessarily create confusion amongst readers. If a venue is known by a common name over a sponsored name, use that especially if the page article uses the unsponsored commonname.

**For arenas with the city name forming the first part of the article title, a pipe is not necessary: [[Bolton Arena]] or [[Boston Garden]].
