*In the lead section and article body, most sanctioning bodies should be fully worded on the first mention: {{xt|World Boxing Association (WBA)}}. They can be abbreviated in tables and succession boxes.

**Exceptions include {{xt|European}} instead of {{!xt|European Boxing Union}} or {{!xt|EBU}}; {{xt|British}} instead of {{!xt|British Boxing Board of Control}} or {{!xt|BBBofC}}; and {{xt|Commonwealth}} instead of {{!xt|Commonwealth Boxing Council}} or {{!xt|CBC}}.

This is because simplicity must be retained for any readers unaware of boxing terminology and individual title histories. The sanctioning body and weight class should instead be linked separately: {{xt|<nowiki>[[International Boxing Federation|IBF]] (IBF) [[flyweight]]</nowiki>}}.

**This also applies to other list articles such as [[list of heavyweight boxing champions]] and [[list of undisputed boxing champions]]; they should linked as {{xt|<nowiki>[[undisputed champion|undisputed]]</nowiki> champion}}.

**In later sections containing more detail, namely ''[[MOS:BOXING/RECORD|Professional boxing record]]'' and ''[[MOS:BOXING/TITLES|Titles in boxing]]'', the aforementioned lists of champions by sanctioning body ''should'' be used.
