Because [[Infinite Jest]] by [[David Foster Wallace]] is an unusually long and complex novel, with essential content in the form of copious endnotes: viz., (388 numbered notes placed at the end of the novel), it is very useful to be able to correlate each endnote with where it appears in the body of the book; i.e., the page.

This index allows the reader of the novel to locate the page number where anyeach of the book's 388 endnote numbers appear in superscript in the main body of the novel.
