The word "high" does not imply that the language is superior to low-level languages.

"High" simply means it easier to understand and read.

For example, one of these languages is lower-level and the other is higher-level.

The second code example is of a higher level programming language than the first. The syntax is easier to read. Another difference is that the first code ([[C Plus Plus|C++]]) is case sensitive, and the second code ([[Visual Basic programming language|Visual Basic]]) is not.
