Flying Tiger's true identity is unknown. A professional football player whose career was cut short, he developed a costume that enabled him to fly and became a criminal.

He started his criminal career as a mercenary when he was hired to kill the original [[Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew)|Spider-Woman]]. Some time after failing to accomplish this, he fought the [[Fantastic Four]] and [[Iron Man]] ([[War Machine|Jim Rhodes]]). Subsequently, Flying Tiger was hired to eliminate businessmen Regis Fussky but defeated by as Iron Man.
