MSDU stands for [[Medium Access Control|MAC]] Service Data Unit.
 
The MSDU is that unit of data that is received from the [[Logical Link Control|LLC]] sub-layer which lies above the MAC sub-layer in a [[protocol stack]]. The LLC and MAC sub-layers are collectively referred to as the [[Data Link Layer|DLL]].
 
The MSDU is received by the MAC and then either fragmented or concatenated with other recently received MSDUs to form an [[MAC Protocol Data Unit|MPDU]].
