:I think this section is attempting to do too much. It mixes Thomson/Rutherford theory/experiment and jumbles up the timeline. A better presentation would just focus on Thomson's scattering model as promised and mention Crowther's experimental confirmation. Then, in the next subsection, we can summarize Rutherford scattering experiment and the consequences, already well covered in that article.
