== How to resolve issue on ''[[My Name Is Earl]]''? ==
In [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=My_Name_Is_Earl&diff=1290052337&oldid=1286162232 this edit], I copied some note definitions to ''[[My Name Is Earl]]'' from [[List of My Name Is Earl episodes|List of ''My Name Is Earl'' episodes]]. Now I see '''Cite error: A list-defined reference named "4.25" is not used in the content''' for three of the embedded references. The article I copied from does not have the same issue, so I'm perplexed! = [[User:Paul2520|paul2520]] [[User talk:Paul2520|💬]] 15:03, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
:{{replyto|Paul2520}} [[My Name Is Earl]] was not previously using [[WP:LDR]]; but per [[WP:CITEVAR]], you should not have altered it to that style without first obtaining consensus at [[Talk:My Name Is Earl]]. --[[User:Redrose64|<span style="color:#a80000; background:#ffeeee; text-decoration:inherit">Red</span>rose64]] 🌹 ([[User talk:Redrose64|talk]]) 20:27, 12 May 2025 (UTC)
::Hi {{u|Redrose64}}. I think there's been a misunderstanding. I reverted my edit [[Wikipedia:Assume good faith|in good faith]].
::Note that the page has an error about a missing <code><nowiki>{{notelist}}</nowiki></code> because the section {{section link|My Name Is Earl|Episodes}} transcludes a table from [[List of My Name is Earl episodes|''List of My Name is Earl'' episodes]]. It looks like {{u|TheDoctorWho}} recently added footnotes with the [[WP:LDR]] format. TheDoctorWho, would you be able to help with the notes list on ''[[My Name Is Earl]]''? = [[User:Paul2520|paul2520]] [[User talk:Paul2520|💬]] 00:16, 13 May 2025 (UTC)
:::{{ping|paul2520}} [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_My_Name_Is_Earl_episodes&diff=prev&oldid=1290169782 I solved this] another way by shifting the defined references to be inside the transclusion tags on the List of Episodes page. This way they still pull into ''[[My Name Is Earl]]'' without needing to add an additional 88 references into that article. As for what actually caused the issue in the first place however, I'm not quite sure. ::::{{ping|Redrose64}} I'm having a different issue now on [[List of My Name Is Earl episodes]] I'm hoping you can help me with now. I'm trying to transclude an {{tl|efn}} note across the four season articles. It's giving me an "The named reference "WGA 3" was defined multiple times with different content" error notice, but as far as I can tell the content is identical across all four pages? :::::I don't see that error at all. --[[User:Redrose64|<span style="color:#a80000; background:#ffeeee; text-decoration:inherit">Red</span>rose64]] 🌹 ([[User talk:Redrose64|talk]]) 20:14, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
::::::Another editor separated them all out before you had gotten a chance to take a look at it. I believe I figured out what was causing the issue though, I was attempting to nest a reference inside the EFN tag, causing the issue when transcluded. I just moved the ref outside (not the best solution, but it theoretically works, I guess).
