==Early Success==

The film has garnered praise worldwide as an "impressively surly and uncompromised debut from a confident, promising young filmmaker." It received a particularly strong reaction due to its depiction of a live suicide performed by Pennsylvania politician [[R. BudBudd Dwyer]], a friend of the filmmaker's great-grandfather. The film is considered an intelligent narrative deconstruction and is drenched in southern gothic, "sunshine noir" mood. It is also widely regarded as an instant cult film, due to its unconventional storytelling, underground soundtrack and well-known cast.

In February of 2006 independent filmmaking consultant Robert Hawk joined the "Loren Cass" team to oversee its release effort. Bob Hawk is best known for discovering [[Kevin Smith]]'s 1994 comedy [[Clerks]] and is credited with nurturing the careers of such filmmakers as [[Kevin Smith]], [[Edward Burns]], Rob Epstein, and others for the last twenty years. He served on the Advisory Selection Committee (1987-1998) of the [[Sundance Film Festival]] and is currently on its National Advisory Board.

As of 2007, the film is being represented at the [[Cinevegas]] Film Festival for international distribution by producer's representative/sales agent Glen Reynolds.
