Valerius Laevinus who had been placed in command at [[Brundisium]] to continue the watch on the movements of Philip<sup><small>[[#Notes\|9]]</small></sub>, upon recieving word from Oricum of events in Illyria, crossed over with his fleet and army. Landing at Oricum, as Philip had left it only lightly garrisoned, M. Valerius was able to retake the town with little fighting.
