An anime series entitled Devil May Cry featuring Dante began airing on the WOWOW TV network in Japan in June of 2007. The series is scheduled for 12 episodes. The show is being produced by the anime studio Madhouse and is being directed by Shin Itagaki. Bingo Morihashi, one of the writers for the third and fourth games, is on the writing staff. The series features Dante in his garb from the first game, but wielding the Rebellion sword (which wasn't seen in that game, and first appeared in the second), as well as Ebony and Ivory. In this adaptation, he is as cocky as he is in the games, though he also appears more serious, and frequently speaks in Engrish. He also loves strawberry sundaes, a reference to the novels. Like many other characters in anime, Dante always complains about being in constant debt and having an increasing tab at the pizza place he frequently orders from.
