I think DocBook does not have presentational markup. Not more than XHTML does. There are tags <code>&lt;emphasis&gt;</code> and <code>&lt;emphasis role="strong"&gt;</code>, but that's just as much as <code>&lt;em&gt;</code> and <code>&lt;strong&gt;</code> in XHTML.
