With an enrollment of 4,874 [[undergraduate]] and 2,704 [[graduate school|graduate]] students as of [[2004]] {{ref|COE}}, the College of Engineering is one of the top engineering schools in the United States. In many cases, the college is ranked as one of the top ten.
 
The college was founded in [[1854]], with courses in civil engineering.
