'''Constantin Sănătescu''' ([[1885]] - [[November 8]] [[1947]]) was a Romanian statesman that was the first [[Prime Minister of Romania]] after the [[23 August]] [[1944]] coup.
 
He was a military attaché of Romania at [[Paris]] and then at [[London]]. He became a general in 1935 and was named deputy chief of the general staff in [[1937]]. He leadled the Romanian delegation to [[Moscow]] in [[1940]], after the beginning of [[World War II]].
 
The pro-German dictatorship of Marshall [[Ion Antonescu]] was overthrown on [[23 August]], [[1944]] and he was charged by King [[Michael of Romania]] with the forming of a new govenmentgovernment. He tried unsuccesfully to streghtenstrengthen the ties with the [[United States]] to save Romania from a Soviet Communist occupation and he was forced to resign on [[December 2]] of the same year.
