Providence Day was founded in [[1970]] as a coed, independent, college preperatory school by James Williams, Thomas Ridenhour, and Gilbert Bell, local residents of southeastern [[Charlotte]], [[North Carolina]]. Rumors abound as to whether its original purpose was to combat desegregation, but regardless, it has grown into a pretty sweet place to get schooled.
