:As a side note, I found his resignation blog post absolutely disturbing. The incivility and animosity, and admittance that Citizendium people did not want him around, are very telling. You use it as supportive evidence, but on a close look it does the opposite. Ottava Rima (talk) 16:02, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

BASEPAGENAME, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.
A tip: add this page Meta:Administrators' discussion index to your watchlist, it tracks the latest activity to various sections of many of the important pages.
Please feel free to join us on IRC: [irc://irc.freenode.net/wikimedia-admin #wikimedia-admin @ irc.freenode.net]. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta.
Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List of administrators and the Template:List of administrators.

Wikimania advisory group
Hey Pete I saw your edits related to Wikimania. You recently moved Wikimania committee to Wikimania advisory group - that effort has stalled several times for some reason or the other. I was involved in the most recent effort, but was told to wait. I was wondering if you are just maintaining all the documentation or taking up the effort for another iteration of the committee/advisory group? If so, then please feel free to leave a message if you ever need a hand, I'd love to help. Thanks Theo10011 01:51, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
: Hi Theo, thanks for noticing all that. (I actually only removed the slash from the name, it was called Group before.) In answer to your question, it's both: (1) I've had a couple discussions recently where the value of an ongoing committee has been discussed, actually with reference to this proposal; and (2) I found this proposal by chance, uncategorized in the Wikimania category tree, while doing an extensive (re)organization of Wikimania content here on Meta.
: I definitely think it would be good to push this forward; it seems to me that the best first step would be to carefully review all discussion, make sure that concerns are addressed in the proposal text, archive old discussion, and then start a new one -- with some clear definition on what will be considered to constitute "approval" of the proposal, and how the committee will be formulated. It would also probably be a good idea to put some advance thought into how the committee will be formed. (As a related but separate issue, I find it surprising that there seems to be no documentation as to how a Wikimania jury is chosen.) -Pete F 15:31, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
::Hey Pete, I was involved in the last effort for the committee more than an year ago. I went through a lot of the documentation related to Wikimania on Meta. I am up for helping out when you want to get started. I agree with your course of action - clearing out old discussions and starting fresh. There are a lot of gaps about how the jury gets picked and deliberates, documentation about bidding, I noticed that the first time around. Let me know when and how you wanna get started. Thanks for bringing the edit clash with Seth to my attention. I missed that I had done this. --Filceolaire 22:20, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
