Skoubo's strength on the playing field is most notably his physical strength, height and heading power, making him a typical [[Football (soccer) positions#Centre forward|targetman]] in attack.

Skoubo started his career in childhood club Struer. From [[1999]] to [[2003]] he played fofor [[Danish Superliga]] club [[FC Midtjylland]], until proloficprolific [[Germany|German]] club [[Borussia Mönchengladbach]] wanted him in the team, and Skoubo made the switch. His career in Germany never took off, so Gladbach put him out on loan at [[England|English]] team [[West Bromwich Albion]], however he was back at Gladbach again after six months. In [[2004]] Danish top club [[Brøndby IF]] wanted to transfer Skoubo off of the German team, and he made a return to the Superliga.

In Brøndby he became an instant succes, and formed a partnership of [[Sweden national football team|Swedish international]] [[Johan Elmander]], with Skoubo the [[boxplayer]]targetman and Elmander playing [[Football (soccer) positions#Deep-lying forwards|in the hole]].
