This feature goes against the expected behaviour of most browsers. In many browsers control clicking opens a link in a new page. However, with a Lightbox link this does not happen, opening the image in the same window inside a lightbox instead, which may not be what the user intended.

However, since it gives a fresh new look and feel to existing web browsing, users may accept this new behavior.
