[[Jonkheer]] '''Pieter Godfried Maria [[van Meeuwen]]''' ([['s-Hertogenbosch]] 1899- [[Ulestraten]] 1982) was a [[Dutch people|Dutch]] [[Jurist]], [[statesman]] and a [[politician]]. He played an very important role in the Dutch politics.
 
Belonging to the [[nobility|noble]] family [[van Meeuwen]], he did the [[gym]] in Den Haag and studied law at [[Leiden University]]. He became a [[lawyer]] in [['s-Hertogenbosch]] and later president and judge of [[the Court]] in [[Amsterdam]], [[Den Haag]] and [[Baarn]] and the [[Hoge Raad der Nederlanden]]. He was a member of the National Assembly (1796 - 1798) and belonged to the moderate unitarians, who were advocates of a central government. From 6 November 1956 - 16 September 1969 was he a member of the [[Senate of the Netherlands]] and [[House of Representatives of the Netherlands]].
