[[Jonkheer]] '''Pieter Godfried Maria van Meeuwen''' ([['s-Hertogenbosch]] 1899- [[Ulestraten]] 1982) was a [[Dutch people|Dutch]] [[Jurist]], [[statesman]]lawyer and a [[politician]]. He played an very important role in the Dutch politics.
Belonging to the [[nobility|noble]] family [[vanVan Meeuwen]], he did the [[gym]] in Den Haag and studied law at [[Leiden University]]. HeAfter becameworking as a [[lawyer]] in 's-Hertogenbosch andhe laterwas president and judge of the [[theCourt Courtof Justice]] in [[Amsterdam]], [[Denfinally Haag]]to and [[Baarn]] and the [[Hoge Raad der Nederlanden]]. He wasbecome a member of the National[[Supreme AssemblyCourt (1796 - 1798) and belonged toof the moderate unitarians, who were advocates of a central governmentNetherlands]]. From 6 November 1956-1969 16 September 1969he was he a member of the [[Senate of the Netherlands]] and [[House of Representatives of the Netherlands]].
He was also chairman of the [[Hoge Raad van Adel]], chairman of the Senate of the Netherlands, first Lieutenant der cavalerie, judiciary-spokesman and member of the supervisory board Amsterdamse bank N.V.
Van Meeuwen married Louisa Augusta Johanna Maria van Lanschot; they had five children.
Pieter married Louisa Augusta Johanna Maria van Lanschot and had five children. His father, jhr. [[Pieter Leon van Meeuwen]], was chairman of the Senate and his mother was Maria Francisca van Lanschot. The family belonging also to the elite of Baarn, Den Haag and Amsterdam.
