Articles should of course start with good definition/introduction paragraphs that give a person of average intelligence a good idea what the subject is and why it is important but we shouldn't dumb things down to the point where articles are not useful to people who already know the basics. BTW, we should also aim to be better than Britannica in depth, breadth and accessibility by starting off with the basics and building from there.
