== Standardization ==
There is currently no standard for XML pipeline languages. However a W3C Note submitted in 2002 by Norman Walsh and Eve Maler from Sun, as well as a W3C Submission submitted in 2005 by Erik Bruchez and Alessandro Vernet from Orbeon, are important steps toward spawning an actual standardization effort. While neither submission is a W3C recommendation, it is hoped that they will serve as a source of inspiration for a W3C [[Working group|Working Group]]. As of September 2005, W3C is in the process of forming the XML Processing Model Working Group, whose main task will be the specification of an XML pipelining language.
