Since 2006, TextGrid has been developing an internet-based platform that offers researchers tools and services for the analysis of text-based data in various digital archives – independent of format, software configuration or ___location. Researchers in the humanities and social sciences will then be able to use a distributed, secure, flexible, and expandable research environment, with shared tools, data, and methods for collaborative purposes.
The infrastructure consists of two components: the TextGrid Repository is a long-term research archive that is embedded in a grid infrastructure. It will guarantee the long-term usability and accessibility, as well as networking functionality, of research data. The TextGrid Laboratory is the interface to the VRE and will make accessible new tools and services in an intuitively-operable software. TextGridLab will be continually refined and regularly updated with new functionalities.▼
