On Wednesday, developer [[User:Jamesday|Jamesday]] reported that an increase in the capacity of Wikimedia's [[memcached]] system, along with some other improvements to it, was helping to improve page load times for logged-in users. In addition, he said this would reduce problems with servers that that stopped responding when visited by [[web crawler]]s.

As the situation began to improve, [[User:Tim Starling|Tim Starling]] took the time Thursday to publicly thank the other developers on the wikitech mailing list for their work. In recognition of the amount of work put in, Starling said, "I've lost count of how many problems we've identified and fixed just over the last few weeks." He commented that in spite of the complaints, most users are appreciative of the work being done, but, "They don't know what our achievements have been and they don't know the challenges we face."
