The LDS church also divides the city (and all other locations where it is strongorganized) into [[Stake (Mormonism)|stakes]] and [[Ward (Mormonism)|wards]]. A stake is roughly analogous to a [[diocese]], and a ward is similar to a [[parish]]. Due to the pervasive influence of the LDS church within Utah, nearly everyone who resides in a given area of the city is aware of what ward they are in, typically even if they are not a member of the LDS church.
