The benefits that Communities of Practiceare claimed to bring as part of a Knowledge Management programme have led to them becoming the object of much attention. Earlier approaches to KM treated knowledge as objetcobject but([[Explicit knowledge]]) however Communities of Practice seem to offer a way to manage [[tacit knowledge]] which can not easily be captured, codified and stored.
