It is located in the Dreyfus Tower of the [[Stata Center]]. The current director is Prof. [[Vincent Chan]].
 
It traces its beginnings to the [[MIT Servomechanics Laboratory]], where much work on guidance systems was done during [[World War II]]. It is linked to the [[Charles Stark Draper Laboratory]] located nearby, and closely works with the [[Lincoln Laboratory]] just outside of [[Boston]], [[Massachusetts]].
