It is linked to the [[Charles Stark Draper Laboratory]] located nearby, and closely works with the [[Lincoln Laboratory]] just outside of [[Boston]], [[Massachusetts]].
 
Affectionately called ''LIDS'', the laboratory has hosted several luminaries over the years, such as [[Claude Shannon]] and [[Robert Gallager]].
