Line 1:
A modulation transformer is a major part of most [[AMAmplitude transmittermodulation|AM]]s transmitters. The primary winding of a modulation transformer is fed by an audio amplifier that has about 1/2 of the rated output power of the transmitter. The secondary winding is in series with the power supply of the final radio-frequency amplifier stage, therefore lowering and rising the operating voltage of the power amplifier (PA) tube. Considering that the PA tube is operated in C mode, i.e. like a switch, the modulation transformer is responsible for the AM modulation of the transmitter.
