Line 35:
In the end, the match left Foley with a dislocated jaw, a dislocated shoulder, a bruised kidney, 2 broken ribs, one and a half missing teeth, a concussion and 14 stitches for the cut beneath his lip. He took 2 months to fully recover, but the match almost certainly helped shorten his active wrestling career.

Many elements of this match, including the fall through the roof of the cage, were reused in Mick Foley's retirement match against Triple H at No Way Out. Video clips of the two brutal falls have been some of the most replayed clips on WWE television.

The idea that the Chokeslam spot was actually a botch has been rubbished by many 'smart' wrestling fans. Reasons for this include the reaction time of the cameramen (including the zoom-out carried out by one cameraman that started long before Foley even landed on the cell), the lack of panic heard in Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler's voices, and the fact that the Chokeslam was actually performed more as a push down onto the cell when a Chokeslam usually means being lifted up into the air. It is also impossible to consider how the match would have made its way back inside the ring had the spot not been carried out.
