The '''Interinter-working Functionfunction''' ('''IWF''') is a method for interfacing a [[wireless telecommunication]] network with the [[Publicpublic Switchedswitched Telephonetelephone Network|PSTNnetwork]] (PSTN). The IWF converts the data transmitted over the air interface in tointo a format suitable for the [[Public Switched Telephone Network|PSTN]].

IWF contains both the hardware and software elements that provide the rate adaptation and [[network protocol|protocol]] conversion between [[Public Switched Telephone Network|PSTN]] and the wireless network.
