The story takes some years leap after which it is shown that Kartikeya has been removed from the post of ''Senapati'' (head of the army), which pleases Indra and for the first time, after so many years, a grown-up Ashoksundari meets Kartikeya. Kartikeya also meets his parents. He enlightens Ashoksundari about meditation and she is inspired by it so much that she renounces her life to meditate, which disturbs Parvati.

Parvati gives birth to [[Ganesha|Ganesh]] by carving a ''murthi'' (idol) out of sandalwood paste. Ganesh stops Mahadev from entering the Kailash as he has never met his father. Enraged, Mahadev cuts off his head; however, an elephant's head is fixed to his body. Later a challenge takes place: the one who will take seven rounds of the ''sansar'' and come to Kailash first will become the most respectful God. So Ganesha takes seven rounds around his parents on his mouse. Kartikeya comes first in Kailash riding on his peacock; however, Mahadev declares Ganesha as the winner. Dejected, Kartikeya leaves Kailash. Ganesh consoles him and decides to stay with him. Parvati blames Mahadev for this. Parvati requests him to take care of his family and give up his life of a hermit and turn to a householder. But Mahadev refuses to give up his life of a hermit. He tests Kartikeya{{spaced ndash}}as he tests his other devotees like Parvati before marrying her.
