{{archivetop|result= Events have overtaken this RfC. The discussion found a clear enough consensus for both significantly culling the list software vendors and for reformatting that more-or-less list into a separate list article, which were presented as (but not really argued as) exclusive alternatives. Since the discussion happened, the proposed split list was created and then deleted (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of finite-difference time-___domain software.) In reviewing the deleted article, I note for completeness that article contained a list of wikilinks, mostly red.

As a separate list article is ruled out for now, and given the clear consensus that the list was not okay at the time of the dicussion, and finally, given the weight of arguments made for or against trimming, I find that there is an effective rough consensus that the list in-article should be significantly trimmed from the way it appeared at the time of this discussion in compliance with WP:EL and WP:NOTDIR. --j⚛e decker<small><i>talk</i></small> 04:50, 23 March 2013 (UTC)
