'''Harold McNair''' was a [[jazz]] [[saxophone|saxophonist]] and [[flautist]] of outstanding virtuosity. He came originally from [[Kingston, Jamaica|Kingston]], [[Jamaica]] where he learned music from [[Victor Tulloch]] who taught at the Alpha Boys, and played with artists such as [[Wilton 'Bogey' Gaynair]] and the [[Babba Motta band]].
 
He moved to [[Europe]] in the [[1950s]], and played with musicians including [[Ronnie Scott]], [[Tubby Hayes]], [[Quincy Jones]], [[Donovan]] and [[Ginger Baker]]. He played on the soundtrack for [[Ken Loach]]'s film ''[[Kes (film)|Kes]]'', with music written by [[John Cameron]]. He also featured in Donovan's ''Wear your love like heaven'', and in Ginger Baker's ''Airforce'' and ''Do What You Like''. He also played on [[John Martyn]]'s album ''The Tumbler''.
