The title refers to the fact that the story takes place in a two [[Parallel universe (fiction)| parallel universes]], a concept loosely based on [[Multiverse (science)|multiverse]] theory.

In Japanese, the English letters l and r are pronounced and written interchangeably. Parallel is therefore spelled Parare. This also means that Lulun can be written as Runrun. There are thus two transliterations for the title: Dual! Parare Lunlun Monogatari and Dual! Parare Runrun Monogatari.
