On [[January 24]], [[2006]], [[Pennsylvania]] [[Pennsylvania House of Representatives|State Representative]] Scott Boyd ([[Republican State Committee of Pennsylvania|R]]-[[Lancaster County, Pennsylvania|Lancaster]]) proposed an '''amendment to the Pennsylvania [[Constitution]] defining [[marriage]]''' between one man and one woman. The language of the proposed [[constitutional amendment]] would also prevent the legislature or [[judiciary]] from creating [[civil unions]] or [[domestic partnerships]]., stating:
