What we're talking about here is ambitious, in the sense that we've never had a language users can write in that actively interacts with the software before - that creates workflows which integrate with MediaWiki properly. But part of the work (users being willing to write and then maintain these workflows) is not new; it's something that happens all around us, right now. It just isn't something MediaWiki really knows about.
:::::::In terms of pleasantness, these are not things most users will have to interact with, much like the process of writing templates (as opposed to the process of using them); as Spectral sequence writes, the initial implementation process is likely to be handled by experienced users used to dealing with this sort of thing, as is the maintenance.
