Clearing applications from multitasking stayed the same from iOS 4.0 through 6.1.6, the last version of iOS 6. As of iOS 7, the process has become faster and easier. In iOS 7, you no longer have to hold the app icons in the multitasking bar to start clearing them, you can simply swipe them up off the screen.
