Just to be clear, I don't have a problem with the use of Haskell as the language to illustrate monad concepts. But the current presentation is very much "here's how to use monads in Haskell". Unfortunately, I agree that if it's too abstract people won't actually be able to learn from it. For people coming from a CS rather than a maths background, Monads are rather tricky.
