Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared is a short LOL XD viral video produced by Becky Sloan and Joseph Pelling in 2011 consisting of singing and talking puppets discussing the value of creativity. It was originally released through the artists’ website, beckyandjoes.com and picked up on several other platforms later like YouTube and KnowYourMeme.com.<ref>Sloan, Becky and Pelling, Joseph. The video is mostly associated with the juxtaposition of a children-like show in the beginning of the video and, after a psychedelic-like cut scene, warps into a wicked form of the first part of the video. It is also known for being open-ended in the way it delivers the message of the video and the contrasts of the first part to the second part which make the message more challenging to decipher.
