SysML grew out of efforts by the [[Object Management Group]] (OMG) Systems Engineering Domain Special Interest Group (SE DSIG), a group jointly chartered by OMG and the [[INCOSE|International Council On Systems Engineering]] (INCOSE) to develop an extension of the UML suitable for use by systems engineers.
