::It could be used, for example, if the date is given as "ca. 200 BC", "November 25 and 29, 1941" or "present", if the date is something the template can't handle (ranges, for example are currently unsupported) or if some other calendar is being used (e.g. Arabic dates, tables with a mix of Julian and Gregorian dates, lunar calandar dates).
