I can't imagine who on earth wrote all this intense detail, with no citations. This isn't exactly personal memoirs. I was gritting my teeth through all the typical nostalgic faux-past tense, while reading all these statements of fact and nodding my head, "Yup yup yup, sounds goooood. Sounds like I sure am glad we have microcode, then. p.s. Mainframes sound HARD.
