'''Margaret Hassan''' is an aid worker who was kidnapped in [[Baghdad]], [[Iraq]] on [[October 19]], [[2004]]. She has joint [[United Kingdom|British]], [[Ireland|Irish]], and Iraqi [[citizenship]], is married to an Iraqi, has been living in the country for 30 years and is the head of operations for the humanitarian relief organisation [[Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere|CARE International]] in Iraq.

Her kidnappers have not issued any specific demands, but in a video released of her in captivity she pleads for the withdrawal of British troops. She also states that "these might be" her "last hours", and that she doesn't "want to die like [[Kenneth Bigley|Bigley]]", who was [[beheading|beheaded]] in Iraq only weeks earlier.
