On April 21, 1906, an alternative tram network was opened in Ekaterinoslaw. It was also based on 1000 mm railway gauge. In year 1918 operating companies merged, as well as tram networks. In years 1970–1990 the rolling stock was changed for ČKD Tatra. Later, the tramcars were also produced on premises of Pivdenmash. By 1996 the rolling stock included about 400 trams, overall ridership on tram was 115 million passenger per year. By that time 19 tram lines existed.
